The short version
- Club Lights is developed by SRCHOUT Software.
- There is no account, no sign-up and no login. We collect no personal information at all.
- There are no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no third-party SDKs.
- Your settings stay on your device. We operate no servers, so nothing is sent anywhere.
- Audio permission is used only for Music Sync. Audio is analysed in real time on your device and discarded immediately — never recorded, stored or transmitted.
- Music files you choose stay on your device and are never uploaded.
- The app does not request camera permission and cannot take photos or video.

1. Who we are
The Club Lights mobile app for Android and iOS (the "App") is developed and published by SRCHOUT Software ("we", "us", "our"), which is the developer named on the app's Google Play and Apple App Store listings.
SRCHOUT Software is the data controller for the purposes of the UK and EU GDPR — although, as this policy explains, there is in practice no personal data for us to control. For any privacy question or request, our privacy point of contact is support@clublights.app.
This policy is published at a permanent, publicly accessible address that is not geo-restricted, and it covers the App in full.
2. What we collect: nothing
Club Lights collects no personal or sensitive user data of any kind. There is no account system, no sign-up, no login and no profile. You do not give us your name, email address, phone number, device identifier or any other identifying detail in order to use the App, and the App does not gather one in the background.
Because nothing is collected, nothing is transmitted off your device, and nothing is stored by us. We operate no servers. There is no database anywhere in which you appear.
3. No analytics, tracking or advertising
The App contains no analytics, no crash-reporting SDK, no attribution SDK, no advertising network and no third-party tracking library of any kind. We do not measure how often you open Club Lights, which features you use, or how long you use them.
We do not build advertising or behavioural profiles, we do not use advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID or Apple IDFA), and we do not track you across apps or websites. On iOS the App does not use the App Tracking Transparency framework, because it performs no tracking that would require it.
4. Settings stored on your device
Your preferences — including haptics, switch sound, strobe speed, Music Sync sensitivity and your Screen Light colour and preset — are saved using your operating system's standard local storage for apps, so the App remembers how you left it.
This information never leaves your device. It is not personal data, it is not readable by us, and it is removed by the operating system when you uninstall the App.
5. Permissions the app requests
Club Lights requests as few permissions as possible. Every permission below is required for a feature that is described on the store listing, and each one can be declined — the rest of the App continues to work without it.
| Permission | Why the app needs it | What happens to the data |
|---|---|---|
Audio / microphoneRECORD_AUDIO (Android)NSMicrophoneUsageDescription (iOS) |
Required for the Music Sync feature only — to read the beat and pitch of music so the light can pulse in time with it. | Analysed in real time on your device and discarded immediately. Never recorded, stored, or transmitted. |
| File access system file picker |
Only when you tap "Choose a track", so you can select a music file for Music Sync. | Read locally and copied to the app's temporary cache for playback. Never uploaded. |
| Flashlight / torch | Controls the device's LED for the Flashlight, Strobe, SOS and Music Sync modes. | No data is produced or collected. |
| Camera | Not requested. The App uses the torch API only. | The App cannot take photos or video. |
| Location, contacts, SMS, call logs, storage-wide access | Not requested. None of these are used by any feature. | No data is accessed. |
Before the audio permission is requested, the App explains in context what it is for. You may decline, and you may withdraw the permission later — see Withdrawing your consent.
6. Audio permission in detail
Club Lights requests the audio permission (on Android, RECORD_AUDIO) solely for
the Club Lighting feature, shown in the App as the Music Sync screen. It is
used in two ways, matching the two sources you can choose on that screen:
- "From file" — reading the waveform of a track you play. On Android this goes through the system Visualizer API. The operating system gates that API behind the audio permission even though no microphone input is captured. This is the reason a flashlight app appears to ask for microphone access, and we want to be explicit about it.
- "Microphone" — an optional mode that listens to music playing nearby, so the lights can follow a song you are not playing through the App yourself.
In both cases, the audio is analysed in real time on the device, in memory, and discarded immediately. Nothing is recorded, buffered to disk, stored, or transmitted. No audio ever leaves your device, and we could not access it even if we wanted to, because we operate no servers.
The permission is used for no other purpose. It is not used for analytics, advertising, voice recognition, or any form of profiling. If you decline it, every other mode — Flashlight, Strobe, SOS Signal and Screen Light — continues to work normally.
7. Music files you choose
When you want the lights to follow a specific song, you tap "Choose a track" on the Music Sync screen and select the file yourself through your system's file picker. The App has no standing access to your music library — it receives only the single file you pick.
That file is read locally and copied into the App's temporary cache so playback can continue smoothly. It is never uploaded. The cache is managed and cleared by the operating system, and is removed entirely when you uninstall the App.
8. Flashlight and camera
The flashlight is controlled through your device's torch API. The App does not request camera permission and cannot take photos or video. No image data is ever accessed, produced or collected.
9. Third parties and data sharing
No data is shared with, sold to, or disclosed to any third party. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we have never done so.
There are no third-party SDKs, analytics providers, advertising networks, AI services or processors embedded in the App with access to user data. There are consequently no third parties for whom we would need to confirm equivalent data protection, because no third party receives any user data from us at all.
Separately, if you downloaded Club Lights from Google Play or the Apple App Store, those stores have their own privacy practices governing your relationship with them — for example your download record and any OS-level crash reporting you have switched on. Those practices are theirs, not ours, and are described in Google's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
10. How your information is kept secure
The strongest security measure available is not to collect data in the first place, and that is the approach Club Lights takes. Because no personal or sensitive user data is collected or transmitted, there is no server, no database and no backup that could be breached, and no data in transit that could be intercepted.
Concretely:
- All processing — audio analysis, beat detection, settings — happens locally on your device.
- Audio is held only in memory for the instant it is analysed, then discarded.
- Settings are written using your operating system's standard app storage, which is sandboxed by Android and iOS so other apps cannot read it.
- The App makes no network requests for the purpose of collecting or sending user data.
- We hold no user data, so we maintain no access controls over it — there is nothing to access.
11. Data retention and deletion
We retain no user data, for any period. Since nothing is collected or transmitted to us, there is nothing for us to retain, archive, back up or delete on our side.
On your device, the position is:
- Audio: retained only in memory for the moment of analysis, then immediately discarded. Retention period: none.
- A music file you select: kept in the App's temporary cache only while needed for playback. Cleared by the operating system, and removed on uninstall.
- Your settings: kept on the device until you clear the App's data or uninstall it.
To delete everything the App holds, uninstall Club Lights — that removes its local storage and cache through the normal operating-system mechanism. You can also use "Clear storage" / "Clear data" in Android settings, or offload/delete the App on iOS, without uninstalling.
If you would like written confirmation that we hold no personal data relating to you, email support@clublights.app and we will provide it.
12. Withdrawing your consent
You can withdraw any permission you have granted at any time, without losing access to the rest of the App:
- Android: Settings → Apps → Club Lights → Permissions → Microphone → Don't allow.
- iOS: Settings → Club Lights → Microphone → off. (Or Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → Club Lights.)
Withdrawing the audio permission disables Music Sync only. The Flashlight, Strobe, SOS Signal and Screen Light modes continue to work exactly as before. No paid feature depends on granting any permission.
13. Children's privacy
Club Lights is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that threshold). It contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no social features and no user-generated content.
We knowingly collect no data from anyone of any age, including children, so there is no circumstance in which we could hold a child's personal information. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will confirm what is described here.
14. Your rights under the UK and EU GDPR
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR give you rights over your personal data — including the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict or object to processing, and the right to data portability.
Because Club Lights collects no personal data, holds none and transmits none, there is nothing for us to access, export, correct, restrict or delete on your behalf. There is no data set in which you appear, and no legal basis for processing is engaged because no processing of personal data takes place.
You are welcome to contact us regardless. If you make a request, we will confirm in writing what is described here: that we hold no personal data relating to you. We aim to respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in the EEA, your national data protection authority.
15. Your rights under the CCPA/CPRA
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the right to know what personal information is collected about you, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and the right to opt out of its sale or sharing.
Club Lights collects no personal information and no sensitive personal information, so there is nothing to disclose, delete, correct or limit. We do not sell or share personal information, and have not done so in the preceding twelve months. We have no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link because there is nothing to opt out of.
We will never discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. You may still submit a request using the contact address below, and we will respond confirming that we hold no personal information relating to you.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example if a feature of the App changes, or if the law changes. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page and publish the new version at this same permanent address.
If a change is material — such as a change to what permissions the App uses, what it does with them, or the introduction of any data collection — we will say so clearly in the release notes for the app update that introduces it, and update the Google Play Data safety section and the Apple App Privacy details to match before that version ships. Because we hold no contact details for you, we cannot notify you individually.
